Seas0nPass for iOS 5.1

Finally you now can update your aTV2 device to the new iOS 5 version 5.1 – Seas0nPass is available to jailbreak the device (tethered).

In addition fireCore has updated it’s aTV flash(black) software to get the well known software also on these updated devices now.

Seas0nPass for Mac [10.6 or later]
Seas0nPass for Windows [XP or later]

For the new aTV flash(black) version visit fireCore directly.

Update:
upgrading was not that easy at all – but worked.
I had to test it several times and it worked in the end by doing a normal upgrade to iOS 5.1 first and then the jailbreak with Seas0nPass. Timing after the jailbreak was also very important –> don’t forget to connect the device to the power cord BEFORE you remove the USB-cable and adding the HDMI-cable.

Short hint at the end: don’t expect the fireCore Logo after the jailbreak – it wasn’t there when I did it…

iOS updates don’t work?

Have you checked your DNS already?

When iOS 5.1 came out I tried to update my iOS devices to the new version and realized that it’s not working for me. Update on 3G is not possible and when I tried to update via my cable based LAN it gave me a dialog telling that iTunes is trying to contact the apple server for verifying the update – it never ends here.

Trying around several workarounds it came out that the problems are related with my cable based internet connection. Further investigations then showed me that the DNS service I use has to be blamed: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

It’s the free google DNS service – and they are blocking the Apple Update servers… damn

After switching to the DNS of my hosting provider now everything worked as expected and the updates went through really fast.
